Did Beijing Steal Organs from People of Conscience?
4 min readWhen a group of qigong practitioners organized a major demonstration in the Chinese capital on 25 April 1999 to appeal for fair treatment after the movement was suddenly banned, former Primer Jiang Zemin ordered even harsher measures to be put in place.
What followed was unrelenting and even more pitiless persecution of practitioners. Then in 2006 shocking news reports of live organ harvesting leaked out.

On April 25, 2019, Falun Gong practitioners held a rally outside the Chinese embassy in Paris. They gathered on the Champ de Mars to raise awareness of the persecution.
“Falun Gong comes from Chinese culture, it is simply a method of Chinese meditation and aims at acquiring energies to be in good health and good spirits,” Mr. Tang, Head of Dafa Association in France told reporter Jan Vandermade of Radio France on 25 April 2019.
It came as a total surprise when the Chinese government started to persecute them because the government was promoting it and even high ranking officials found the practice very good.
People who practice say that the beauty of the Falun / “Law Wheel,” cultivation is that the “wheel” which is an energy mechanism based on Truth, Compassion Tolerance is developed inside the body, Through adhering to the principles a practitioner with health issues may be able to cure a wide range of ailments and diseases, including diabetes and cancer.
“Ma Jianmin, a retired worker in north-east China, had been a Falun Gong follower for two years,” writes the CCP-sanctioned propaganda booklet Li Hongzhi and his Falun Gong – cheating the public and harming people, published by the New Star Publishing House in Beijing.”In those years he became convinced that the Wheel of Law was embedded in his stomach, turning and rotating. In search of eternal life, he decided to take it out. He did so with a pair of scissors. He bled to death, lying on the floor of his kitchen.” The story is accompanied by pictures of alleged slaughter committed in the name of Falun Gong, and is one of the hundreds of examples the CCP gives to prove the “evil nature” of the movement.
Falun Gong Practitioner
Falun Gong denies all this saying Falun Gong promotes peace and is non-violent.
Mr. Li Hongzhi created Falun Gong in 1992. It was during a surge in interest in qigong the 1980s and early ’90s when the cultivation method was created and it formed a part of state-sanctioned meditation techniques that had their roots in ancient tradition. One year later the movement was officially incorporated into the Scientific Qigong Research Association under the Ministry of Health.
Falun Gong which advocates meditation and a healthy lifestyle visibly reduced medical expenditure in Chinas healthcare system. Its membership grew and was said to exceed that of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP, estimated to have 80 million members).
Beijing grew nervous and its relationship with the movement changed. Falun Gong was kicked out of the Qigong research association and, in 1995.
Mr.Li Hongzhi left China to settle in the US.
A peaceful protest took place on 25 April 1999. 10,000 Practitioners turned up in the government zone of Zhongnanhai. They were trying to stop the impending persecution by Chinese authorities. It took the CCP two months to declare the movement an “evil cult,” forbade it, and started arresting its members.
Organ Harvesting
Since 1999, Falun Gong and the Chinese government have been locked in a propaganda battle. According to their sources, the movement says Beijing has a program of “organ harvesting.” Organs of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been harvested before they were executed. The organs are for sale for profit on the international market.
Organ harvesting first emerged in 2006, the Sujiatun Thrombosis Hospital in Shenyang allegedly involved in collecting organs from thousands of Falun Gong prisoners.
The rumors were supported by an international investigation carried out by Canadians David Matas, a lawyer, and David Kilgour, an independent member of parliament.
The number of Falun Gong practitioners in jail in China is unknown.
Chinese tourists are afraid when coming across Falun Gong but there are a great many who are positive and supportive.
Countries all over the world have seen the benefits and the qigong has proved to the world to be a peaceful and harmless spiritual practice.
Every year since 1999 on 25 April, practitioners all over the world hold commemorative activities to raise awareness for those who have lost their lives for a worthy cause.
