Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice Raised in the Dutch Parlement Office
3 min readOn the eve of International Human Rights Day – 10th of December 2015, Chinese human rights activists Mei Hua Tang Zhimin, Chen Lili, Li Miaojing were invited by prominent Dutch member of parlement Harry Van Bommel (Socialist Party -SP)。 They have talked several times about human rights in China in the Dutch congress office.

Mr. Van Bommel is well aware of China’s human rights issues, the Socialist Party which he represents was once a follower of Mao Zedong during the Cultural Revolution, because the Communist country was closed to the rest of the world, the international community knew nothing about China’s human rights catastrophe at that time. They thought that the Red Guard movement was very democratic movement, and followed blindly. After the reform and opening up of PR China, Mao Zedong’s myths and legends of the so-called democracy in China was actually a hell. They turned out to feel shame to have followed Mao Zedong. After the crackdown upon the students movement on the 4th of June in 1989, SP has been advocating an arms embargo on Communist China. They are also very concerned about the human rights and development in Tibet and Xinjiang. Since the persecution of Falun Gong 1999, SP respects the rights of Falun Gong and repeatedly criticized Netherlands government decision-making, They face honestly the problem of organ harvesting and the trial of Jiang Zemin.

During the talks, Mr. Van Bommel addresses Falun Gong human rights issues, and gives some valuable suggestions. He thinks that although to bring Jiang Zemin to the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague,is not very realistic criticizes repeatingly, because if the International Criminal Court initiates a case or not requires that it is to be unanimously adopted by five permanent members of Security Council of the UN, Yet Communist China is one of the five permanent members, so far it seems, it naturally will not judge their own evil head Jiang Zemin. However, this can be used as a long-term target. It deserves more effort. If human rights criminals like Jiang Zemin are not accused and go unpunished, is a mockery of international human rights law, is an affront to human dignity.
Mr. Van Bommel suggests that, at this stage, Falun Gong practitioners should move towards all segments of Western society, Let Western society and people know about the truth on a large scale, Place Falun Gong human rights issues in the international topic on various occasions. He specified that, in the European Parliament, the China European Human Rights Dialogue is an ongoing project which concerns and discuss various aspects of human rights in China. Falun Gong human rights issues should be put on focus there.
